Submission on the Climate Change Commission’s Recommendations
Although the need for action to limit climate change has been well understood since at least 1990, global CO2 e emissions have continued to increase strongly over the past 30 years.
It has become clear that we need to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees C above pre-industrial levels. To have some hope of maintaining a reasonably habitable planet for ourselves and for many other living species, we need to take urgent and decisive action. The latest scientific advice from the IPCC clearly indicates that the CCC's recommendations are not nearly strong enough.
ESR's submission to the CCC draft recommendation is here.
